"Death of Starvation"

I am not really in the History, but suddenly the word Holodomor came from my mind and curios about the word so I searched it and got some ideas.

Holodomor is translated in English language which means “death of starvation.” The holodomor was considered the greatest national catastrophes to affect the Ukraine nation in modern history where millions of inhabitants of Ukraine died because of starvation in an unprecedented peacetime catastrophe. The root of Holodomor was a subject of scholarly debate. They argued that the Soviet policies that caused the famine may have been designed as an attacked on the rise of Ukrainian nationalism which therefore it can fall under the legal definition of genocide. It is therefore also known as the “terror-femine in Ukraine” and “famine-genocide in Ukraine.” But there are other people conclude that the Holodomor was a consequence of economic problems associated with radical economic changes during the Soviet industrialization. The scholars was estimated about 6-8 million peasants death during the famine of 1932-1933, where: Central Russia has 2 million, Kazhastan has 1.7 million, Ukraine has 1.3 million and North Caucasus has 1 million.
As of March 2008. the parliament of Ukraine and possibly nineteen governments of other countries have recognized the actions of the Soviet government as an act of Genocide.

95th birthday of my Grandfather

We celebrated the 95th birthday of my grandfather last Sunday, held @ Toril where the sister of my father lived. It was a great feeling (i think!) still standing in front of many people composed of his sons, daughters, mga apo and anak ng kanyang mga apo singing the Happy Birthday song. My lolo was touched because he reached the 95th year of his life, indeed it is a big gift from God to him.
